Passed 03/01/2024

Jarvis Elon Pickering, at the young age of 35, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024, at his home in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Jarvis was born in Greenville, South Carolina, and is the oldest son of Scott Watson Sr. and Kendra Pickering Walker.

Jarvis was primarily a product of the Greenville County School system. He started his educational journey at Armstrong Elementary School in Greenville County. Jarvis then moved to Georgia and attended Panola Way Elementary School located in Lithonia where he lived with his mother and his loving stepfather, the late Lee Tracey Guthrie. He then moved back to South Carolina and attended Northwest Middle School. For his freshman year, he went to Travelers Rest High School. Jarvis then transferred to Southside High School where he graduated as a proud SHS Tiger. Jarvis kept the Tiger pride and went on to attend Benedict College on a football scholarship.

Jarvis was a passionate individual whose love for sports and music defined him. He played sports for the majority of his adolescent years, starting football at age 4. He thrived as a three-sport athlete, in basketball, football, and track and field. Known for his adaptability on the football field, Jarvis' versatility shone through as he played multiple positions. Ultimately, he found his niche as a quarterback, where his fierce determination and love for physicality were unmistakable. Beyond the field, Jarvis' creativity found expression through music. He poured his soul into crafting melodies and beats, eagerly sharing the music he created with his family and friends. Jarvis' infectious enthusiasm for sports and music lit up any room he entered.

Jarvis was a beacon of kindness and warmth in our lives. Jarvis' boundless love embraced all who crossed his path. His selfless generosity knew no bounds, and his infectious laughter brightened every moment. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever illuminate our hearts. While Jarvis had many loves in his life, nothing compared to his love for his son. Jaden was Jarvis’ entire heart, and when he spoke of him his eyes would light up. Watching Jaden play basketball and football was the highlight of his life. He would always talk about how Jaden was a much better athlete than he was. He loved to provide sports advice to Jaden, his coaches, and anyone else who would listen. Though he may be gone, his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched with his genuine care and radiant smile.
