Obituary For Cynthia Laverne Hayes

Cynthia L. Hayes, was born the oldest of nine children on April 2, 1950, to the late James Richard Crite and Wilma Neal Crite in Liberty, North Carolina. She departed this life peacefully on February 25, 2024.

Cynthia attended school in Liberty, NC, until she was twelve years old, and then moved to Nealtown in Greensboro, NC She attended Dudley High School for her sophomore year, where she first met her husband, Roger Hayes. Cynthia transferred to Page High School for her junior and senior years and graduated in 1968. She also studied at ECPI University Greensboro, where she received her Certificate for computer courses.

Cynthia married the love of her life, Roger J. Hayes on May 9, 1966, and from that union three children were born: Derrick, Ryan and Rodrick. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Sharpe Road Church of Christ.

Cynthia worked for Blue Bell in 1968, after graduation and later began working at the United States Post Office. She retired from the U.S. Post Office in 2006 after twenty-three years of service.

Cynthia was a member of the Eastern Star. She was also a Mary Kay Consultant. She loved to read and her favorite authors were James Patterson and Mary Higgins Clark. She enjoyed her time at Lake Tahoe in California.

Cynthia leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Roger J. Hayes; three sons, Derrick A. Sr. (Nicole), Ryan C., and Rodney Parker (stepson); nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three brothers, James R. (Judy) Crite, Nathan E. Crite and Gerald F. Crite of; five sisters, Betty L Crite, Patricia L. Doggett, Valerie A. (Will) Davis, and Susan M. (Fred) Williams, and sister-in-love, Mageline (Johnie) Shoffner-Staley; a vast number of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

A Funeral Service honoring her will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 12 noon; Sharpe Road Church of Christ 2400 Sharpe Road Greensboro, NC 27406. Visitation at 11:30am.

Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery 235 Bingham Street Greensboro, NC
