Obituary For Willie Rufus Reams

Willie Rufus Reams was welcomed into the world on December 27, 1943, in Quitman, Georgia to Lewis Reams and Connie Reams (Richardson). He was the middle of seven total children. The eldest sibling, Mary, is the only sister, and his five brothers, in order by their birthdays, are James, Lewis, Jim, Herb, and Roy. Willie was known to many as fox, fool, old fool, buddy, and slick, whatever the name, he was always that fun-loving friend.

Willie met his wife Sandria, and they had two children together, Marcus and Jemal. His son Marcus married Maria (Dade), and together they gave birth to his three grandchildren, Shae, Malcolm, and Matthew.

He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Air Force. After leaving the military he moved his young family to Tampa before settling in Tallahassee during the latter part of 1972 where he purchased the first family home. He supported his family by laying carpet, painting, and putting up wallpaper, He eventually joined the Leon County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy. After many years of service to the County, he left the Sheriff’s office and worked as a private investigator and process server. Willie served in a variety of roles that included the security team at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center and a truck driver for his friends trucking company.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers James and Roy, his son Jemal, and his grandson Shae. He is survived by a host of family members that include his wife (Sandria), son (Marcus), daughter-in-law (Maria) grandchildren (Malcolm & Matthew), his siblings (Mary, Lewis, Jim, and Herb), as well as many family and friends.
