Ronald Swint, 61, of 317 Black Street, Shelby, NC, passed away on February, 28, 2024 at Wendover Hospice, Shelby, NC. Ronald was born on December 29, 1962 to the late Elgie Swint and Hattie Coates Swint.
Ronnie was a hard worker. He loved to plant vegetable gardens and he was a mighty fine cook. In his young days, Ronnie worked in construction for David Royster and with Junius Teddy’s real estate business. For the last 25 years, Ronnie was employed by the law firm of Teddy, Meekins & Talbert working in maintenance and landscaping. He loved to take care of the grounds on Fallston Road and took special pride in decorating the office for the Christmas season. Ronnie was deeply loved by all the firm’s employees. He enjoyed giving them nicknames. To Ronnie, Kristy Early was always “Lucy” and David Teddy was always “Matlock”. Ronnie was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved to watch Fred Sanford reruns, but his favorite pastime was listening to gospel music in his house and in his pick-up truck.
Ronnie loved his family with all of his heart. He took time to teach his family how to have a great work ethic and to do a good job. He would hang out with all his nieces and nephews, being funny man and enjoyed teaching them how to box. He told them about the good ole days and about his past; the good parts and the bad parts. He showed them how to throw rocks with his feet and hit you. Ronnie was a special man who talked with respect of others. He would say to his nephews slang terms like ‘Say a few syllables” to let you know he wasn’t a long talker. Or he would tell you that life was ‘just fine and dandy’. He treated his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as his children-providing for them as much as he could. He often would say no to a request, but in the end, he would give in and provide for them. Ronnie’s great nieces and nephews called him ‘Johnny Guitar’as a nickname.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his beloved siblings, Brenda Swint, Martha Swint, Gary Swint, Bobby Swint, Charles Swint, Elgie Swint, Jr., and Frankie Coates.
Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory, his nephew, Jeffery A. Swint (Skyler); siblings, Pamela Swint of Shelby, NC, Barbara Swint of Ashville, NC, Ricky Swint, of Shelby, NC, James Swint of Charleston, SC, Larry Swint and Donald Swint, both of Shelby, NC; aunt, Lula Mae Burton of Tennille, Ga; nephews, Steven L. Swint, Jeffery T. Swint, Rodney C. Swint, and Antonio L. Swint all of Shelby, NC; and a host of other great nieces and nephews.

My memory of him will always be his great spirit, he was always smiling and making the ones around him smile and laugh. I never saw him upset. He was such a good light in this world. He could never say my name and would call me "Lil Bit", he was such a good co-worker and very hard working as well. May you finally Rest in Peace Ron-Ron!

I knew Ronnie when I lived next to Jay Teddy. He was always engaging and positive. Later in life I would see him when I worked at Lowe's. He was always a friend. I will miss him. He was definitely a positive influence in my life.
