Obituary For Weldon Wade Kirby

Weldon Wade Kirby, 82 of Montague, TX went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in Nocona, TX.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, February 29th, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Montague, with Rev. Micky Miller officiating.

Weldon was born January 20, 1942 in Bowie, TX to Bailey Weldon and Lera Norvell. He graduated from Nocona High School in 1960. As a young man he moved to Wichita Falls. Weldon started his career as Firefighter in 1965, later in 1967 Weldon and his family moved to Richardson, TX where he continued his Firefighting career until his retirement in 1994. In 1996 he went to work for Walmart and retired after 20 years of service. Weldon enjoyed golfing, working in the yard and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Monty Kirby, brothers C.H. Kirby and Harold Kirby, sister Mildred Pettit and Aunt Nannie Pippin and husband Joe.

Weldon is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Kirby of Montague; daughter, Kristi Stover and husband Steve of Lipan, TX; grandchildren, Rocky Roberts and Riley Walker, both of Bowie; sister, Nora Faye Sherwood of Tyler, TX; brothers-in-law, Bobby Britton and wife Dorothy of Lubbock, TX and James Britton of Nixa, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

I knew Weldon when he was a boy. Great guy. Never heard a cross word from him. I also knew and remember the rest of his sisters and brothers, and his mother who were also great people. Sorry to hear of his passing. Billy Roach (one of the Twins).
