MARJORIE LEIGH WRIGHT HEADEN, daughter of the late Royal Leigh and Frances Bagley Wright, was born December 27, 1939 in Palmer Springs, VA and departed this life peacefully February 15, 2024 in VCH-MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA.
At an early age she was baptized and joined Jerusalem United Church of Christ, where she remained a faithful member until her passing.
Majorie was a graduate from the public schools in Bronx, NY and later graduated from Jane Adams Vocational High School.
On May 15, 1965 she married Henry Headen and to this union a set of twins was conceived and preceded her in death. Later in life they adopted seven children.
Majorie was employed at Bronx Hospital for many years. She then moved to Arlington, VA where she was a caretaker and had her own business alongside her husband.
She loved to cook and prepare special meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas for her family. She loved to garden and watch TV shows on renovations.
Marjorie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, Godmother, and friend; loved by all who knew her.
Majorie leaves to mourn her husband- Henry Headen of the home; Her 7 adoptive children- Dawon Headen, Winchester, VA; Ebony Headen, Oxford, NC; Tina Headen, Minneapolis, MN; David Headen, Tucson, AZ; Samantha Shotwell, Silvestre and Nicolas Headen, all of the home; 4 grandchildren; 1 brother- Roy Irving Wright, South Hill, VA; 2 sisters- Selma Bacote, Boydton, VA and Shirley (Joe) Dixon, South Hill, VA; brother-in-law, Samuel (Cassandra) Headen; aunt- Bertha White, Boydton, VA; Godson- Vincent (Pat) Howell, Bracey, VA; devoted friends- Louise and Judy Lewis, and a host of devoted loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
I was saddened to hear of Marjorie's passing. Thoughts and Prayers are with Henry and all of the Headen Family. We were neighbors for 7 years when we lived on South Thomas Street in South Hill and remained friends. We saw each other at the Soccer fields and when shopping in Walmart. She will truly be missed. God Bless you and Rest In Peace my friend, Marjorie. ✝️🙏❤️🫂
