Obituary For Bruno A. Bass

Mr. Bruno Bass, better known as Freight Train, departed this life on Friday, February 16, 2024.

He was born on November 8, 1954 in Smyrna, Tennessee to the late Ben Arthur Bass and Annie Seline Bass.

Bruno was educated in the Metro Nashville Public Schools and graduated from Hume Fog High School in 1972.

Bruno was baptized and accepted Christ at a young age at 12th Ave Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bruno enjoyed singing and had an amazing, recognizable voice. He spent his career as a radio personality for numerous radio stations including 1470 WVOL, 88.1 WFSK, and 880 WMBD.

Bruno loved interacting and conversing with others. He enjoyed giving advice and home spun wisdom. The majority of his professional life revolved around customer service. Bruno's professional journey included positions at The Tennessean, The Board of Discipleship and Comcast.

Bruno was preceded in death by his father and mother Ben Arthur and Annie Seline Bass.

Bruno leaves to cherish his memory to his loving and devoted wife Chnowa Bass, his children Mylica (John) Cathey, Kenya, Mora, Trinity, Kennedy and Benjamin Bass. Sister Yolanda Jenkins, Sisters-in- love Dennae Clay, TerriJean Nelson, Brothers-in-love William(Nesheryl) Summers, Sherriff(Valerie) and Rasheed Richards, Grandchildren Maliyah and Jamonte Bass, Jamela Bailey, Jamya Cathey and Jeremiah and Josiah Smith. Great Granddaughter Kielyn Bailey. Devoted Nephew Daniel Jenkins and Aunts Joyce Christmon, Cora Pinkerton and Georgia Lee Lyons. Uncle James Johnson Sr and Joe Jobe. Devoted Friend Robert Ainsworth, Kevin Jones and a host of other family and friends.

Services are as follows:

Public viewing Friday, February 23, 2024, 3:00-5:00 PM at Hellum Funeral Chapel.

Lie-In-State Saturday, February 24, 2024, 2-4:00 PM

Family visitation 4-5:00 PM, with service to follow at Terrell Broady Funeral Home, 3855 Clarksville Pike, Nashville, Tennessee 37218.
