Obituary For Carol Althea Ashe

Carol Althea Ashe, 62, passed Friday, February 16, 2024 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service at 12:00 p.m. EST, Friday, February 23, 2024 at Mother Mary Mission Catholic Church, Phenix City, AL with Father David Hamm, officiating. Public visitation is Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 1 - 5 p.m. EST.

Carol Althea Ashe was born September 15,1961 to the late James H. Ashe and Ethel J. Ashe in Columbus, Georgia.

Ms. Ashe was a faithful parishioner of Mother Mary Mission Church in Phenix City, AL where she also attended Mother Mary Mission School and was in the graduating 8th grade class of 1973. She graduated Pacelli High School in 1979, and received her B.A in Latin from Mercer University, class of 1985.

Ms. Ashe was a paraprofessional in the Phenix City School District, and would later receive a teaching position in the Harris County School District where she taught Latin and Physical Science until her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in May of 1991.
Undeterred by her obstacles, she was a contestant in the Miss Wheelchair Geargia Pageant in 1995 and 1996, she was a member of the local Multiple Sclerosis Support Group. She was a volunteer at Columbus Hospice for several years.

In her later years, she found gratification in being apart of the nurturing and rearing of her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. James H. Ashe and her brother, Mr. Courtenay A. Ashe.
Her Survivors include: Hermother Ethel J. Ashe; Her only child, Hillary Ashe- Frazier (Toney) four grandchildren namely, Tania, Tamila, Toney Jr., and Tamauri Frazier; one brother, Cedric A. Ashe; nephews, Cedric (Bianca), Cameron, and Brylen Ashe; one niece Cali Ashe; one Uncle, Booker T. Jones; Aunts Bernice Wright, Sherry Method, Gladys Robinson, Lydia Mullin (Leon), and Frankie Ash; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Carole was a high school classmate at Pacelli. We reconnected in recent years. She was always very positive no matter how tough it got for her. May she rest in peace. Eileen Devitt
