Rev. Robert L. ThompsonSPARTANBURG, SC-- Rev. Robert Leroy Thompson, of 775 Howard Street, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 21, 2012.Rev. Thompson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Wilhelmena Mayes Thompson of the home.Rev. Thompson, a retired pastor of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, faithfully pastored churches in the North and South Carolina Region.In addition to his wife, Rev. Thompson is survived by two daughters, Elaine Jones of Hendersonville, NC and Janesha Thompson of Spartanburg; sister, Mrs. Evilena Austin of Boston, MA; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four nieces; two nephews; one sister-in-law, Joyce Mayes and a host of family, friends and former parishioners.Rev. Thompson was predeceased by siblings, Mrs. Mattie Nesbitt Smith, Mrs. Juanita Thompson Geter and Mr. Clarence Fant.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 2:00 pm, at the Mt. Olive C.M.E. Church, 431 N. Fish Trap Rd.; Easley, SC 29640. The Reverend Linda Kirksey will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 8:00-9:00 pm on Wednesday evening, September 26, 2012, at the John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel.The family is at the home.J.
