Obituary For Mr. Raymond Melton

Mr. Raymond Melton was born on November 12th, 1944 to Pearlie Mae and Alexander Melton. He departed this life on Monday, February 5th, 2024 at Atrium Health Anson.

He graduated from McRae High School. Raymond was a very humble person and did not meet strangers. He moved to Brooklyn, New York, but later decided he wanted to come back home to Anson County.

He became employed at Cuddy Farms Poultry in Marshville, NC for several years which is now Pilgrim’s Pride. He later went to work at Glenn Manufacturing Company where he continued to work until he became disabled.

Raymond was a faithful member of White Oak Missionary Baptist Church until his health became to decline.

His favorite pas time was watching Gunsmoke, In The Heat of the Night and Matlock with his cousin, Dennis.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Melton, his sister, Mattie Melton, his nephews, Darryl Melton Sr. and Rayvon Melton and sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Melton.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Pearlie Mae Melton of the home. Two sisters, Trudy Melton of Morven and Barbara Morris (Luther) of Lilesville. Two brothers, Prentice Melton of Pennsylvania and Lee Melton (Serena) of Morven. Aunts: Glenda Teal (Robert) and Betty McRae of Morven. Uncles: James Burch (Frances), and Hubert Burch of New York. Nieces: Makayla, Hattie Janet, Cheryl, Melissa, Shuronda, Towanda, Tonda and Jerica. Nephews: Damon, Jermaine, Prentice Jr., Eric, Keith, Shuntu, Kyam and Alex. God daughter, Crystal McLendon. A host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

The Homgoing Services wil be on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, 12:00 noon, in the Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the Melton Family Plot of Galilee AME Zion Church, Morven, North Carolina.

The Melton Family will greet family and friends on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 11:30am-12:00 noon.

The public viewing will be on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 1:30-4:30pm.
