Judy Kaye Prater Taylor, 68, of Richmond, slipped away February 4, 2024. She was born on December 7, 1955 and raised in Cleveland Tennessee, where she attended Cleveland City Schools. After high school, Judy served in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1978, where she was honorably discharged. There she met and married her devoted husband, Calvin Huen Taylor, Jr. on February 28, 1976. After serving in the Air Force, Judy moved with Calvin to Richmond, Virginia where she worked for Verizon for 30 years. Upon moving to Richmond, Judy became a member of Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church from 1981, until she moved her membership to Springfield Baptist Church in 2007. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, James W. Prater and Eleanor Johnson Nalley and a daughter, Audrey Rose. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Calvin; one daughter, Sasha Jefferson (Jemel), of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Haven Taylor and Nicholas Taylor (Tiffany) of Richmond; three grandchildren, Landon Nehemiah Jefferson, Nykiah Aleese Taylor and Lily Taylor Jefferson; three sisters, Sheila Blair, Cleveland, Tennesse, Cathy Hall (Vernon), of North Richland Hills, Texas and Jimmie Lowery, of Irving, Texas; mother-in-law, Rosetta Chavis Taylor; four sisters-in-law, Anita Taylor, Debra Taylor, Cassandra Taylor-Anderson and Audrey Evins (Eddie); two brothers-in-law, Charles Taylor and Ronald Taylor (Angela); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2024 at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Interment private. Live streaming at scottsfuneralhome.com
