My mother and father preceded me in death as did my grandparents Jonas Bailey and Cora Hairston Bailey, also Frank O. Brown and Bertha Wilson Brown and daughter-in-law, Shaneigh Latten Franklin.
I was married to James Franklin, Sr. of the union 4 children were born. I attended St. Benedict the Moor Elementary School and St. Ann’s Academy, Howard University and graduated Russell’s Business School as valedictorian.
I was employed by YMCA, FU Murrells contractors, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco, Wachovia Bank & Trust for 20 years and retired from American Express with 22 years of service. I attended St. Benedict Catholic Church and was involved in the St. Monica’s Guild.
I didn’t come here to stay, but I did have time to cook, knit, crochet and play Bid Whiz.
Surviving me are my children, James Jr. (Kristy) Franklin, Jeffrey I (Tonya) Franklin, Juli (Edward III) Reese and Jason Franklin. Grandchildren: Nia Franklin, Bailey (Raheem) Lamidi, James Franklin III, Elexandria Reese, Edward Reese IV and Jeffrey Franklin II. Great-grandchildren: Rahley Lamidi and Isaiah Franklin. Along with a host of close friends and relatives.
I am so sad to learn that I will not be able to have another laugh with you, Catherine. You were so authentic. Because of that, we had great conversations together working at Wachovia Mortgage together. We managed to keep a connection for a little while even after I left to work at RJR. You were even front and center at my wedding in 1983. Tonight, I was thinking of you and wondering what you were up to. Decided to Google you to find out where you were. Now I know. Hopefully I will be blessed enough to connect with you again. Hugs & Kisses to you ... and your family. Truly, Karen Sanders652

I shall always remember my dear cousin Catherine for her honesty, frankness her baking and friendship. She was always a gentle soul with a sense of giving, so unlike an only child, always there when needed. May Amighty God grant her eternal rest so that she may rise in glory .
