Obituary For Michael D. Cook, Sr.

On Sunday, January 21, 2024, Michael D. Cook, Sr. 71, of Wren Ct., Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at his residence. He was born in Martinsville, VA on July 29, 1952, to the late William I Cook, Sr., and Beulah Gilbert Cook.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by three brothers, William I Cook, Jr, James E. Cook, and Melvin Cook, and three sisters, Gwendolyn Cook, Carolyn V. Cook, and Mary Ann Fontaine.

Michael was a member of Inheritors Ministries. He retired as a self-employed contractor and was a 1970 graduate of George Washington Carver High school.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Marvie McCain Cook of the home; one son, Michael D. Cook, Jr. (Helene Brown) of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Michelle D. Adams (Joshua) of Fernandina Beach, FL; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jackie Mosley of Greensboro, NC, and Penny Parker of Charlotte, NC; two brother, Ricky Cook of Greensboro, NC, and Marvin Cook (Leslie) of Lithonia, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville with Pastor David Martin, Eulogist. The burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens,869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the residence, 130 Wren Ct., Martinsville, VA.
