Mrs. Hattie Phillips, 92 of 1904 Vick Wilson Road, Shelby, NC, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Hattie Brooks Phillips was born July 4, 1931, to Ruffin and Inez Brooks. She was preceded in death by J.P. Phillips, Jr., her husband of 44 years and oldest son, Larry Phillips; sisters Josephine Brooks, Beatrice Bailey, Nellie White and Corrine Earl.
Surviving siblings are John Brooks of Fayetteville, NC; Mattie Speaks (Tony) of Dayton, OH and Reverend David E. Brooks (Brenda) of Oklahoma City, OK.
She is survived by her children, Willie Phillips of Charlotte, NC; Shelia Wilson (Chuck) of Shelby, NC; and Michael Phillips (Joy) of Temple Hills, MD. Grandchildren are Stacey Phillips of Durham, NC, Josh Phillips and Shumicka Phillips of Shelby, NC; great-grandchildren, Darrell Chatman, TyKeela Ussery, and Tykeria Ussery of Greensboro, NC, and ZaβRiyah Borders of Shelby, NC; one great-great grandchild, Gianna Thomas of Greensboro, NC and a host of nieces and nephews. Her brothers-in-law are Raymond Phillips (Lendra) of Shelby, NC, and Paul Phillips (Brenda) of Shelby, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Maple Springs Baptist Church at 12 p.m. Visitation of family and friends will be from 11:30 a.m. until 12 noon.
