Mrs. Peggy Ann Hawes Wilkins,73, entered into eternal rest on Monday evening, January 15, 2024, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice House.

Born on March 11,1950, Peggy was the first of twelve children born to the late Benjamin and Elsie Long Hawes of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Peggy was a 1968 graduate of Carver High School. Peggy joined the New Prospect A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age and was truly a kind hearted, faithful, and dedicated woman of God! When the church doors opened, she was always there praising the Lord and serving others. She served in almost every department of the church, giving of her best to the Master until her health declined.

Peggy worked at Arrow Automotive for over 30 years until their closing. She later worked and retired from Beauty Systems Group in Spartanburg, SC.

Peggy was a very humble, kind, and loving person. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her famous honey bun cake! She truly loved her family and for most of her life was always a care giver and provider for many.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Mr. Jimmy W. Wilkins, three sisters, Ms. Mabel Hawes Jones , Ms. Carrie L. Hawes, Ms. Tammy T. Hawes, all of Spartanburg SC; and adoptive sister , Mrs. Pamela Foster of Cummings, Ga.; her seven brothers, Mr. Bennie Hawes (Joann) Mr. Michael Hawes, Mr. Bruce Hawes, Mr. John Douglas Hawes, Mr. Lee Marvin Hawes (Camille), Mr. Jackie W. Hawes and Mr. Tori Hawes (Christine), all of Spartanburg, SC; her sister-in-law, Ms. Theresa Wilkins; two aunts, Mrs. Betty Hawes and Mrs. Hattie Long (Roosevelt) of Spartanburg, SC ; and one uncle, Mr. Booker T. Hawes of Georgia; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, many of whom she helped to raise as her own. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jackie Marie Hawes.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 12:00 noon at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Livestream will be available via Facebook on the TEEFERGUSONREPORT.
