Mr. Levander Bennett

Mr. Levander Bennett was born to Mae Queen Bennett in Anson County, NC on January 1, 1944, and peacefully departed on January 15, 2024, at Hospice Haven in Rockingham, NC.

He attended Anson County Schools. In 1965, he embarked on a lifelong journey of companionship by marrying Betty Jean Tillman. He was a member of Centenary A.M.E Zion Church, Levander played a pivotal role in the construction of the new church and served diligently on the Trustee Board.

A pillar in his community, Levander exemplified a strong work ethic and a spirit of innovation. His career spanned over 30 years in the textile industry working at Danriver, T&S Mills and Hornwood where he retired. He excelled as a leader and served as a mentor to countless individuals. His ability to connect with everyone and instill a drive for success was truly remarkable.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, He was an avid walker who found joy in traveling to new places with his family. His commitment to family was evident in his nearly 59 years of marriage to his loving wife, Betty T. Bennett. Levander leaves behind a legacy carried on by his three daughters: Sharon B. Young (Kirk) of Charlotte, NC, Katrina B. Mariner (Tony) of Dunedin, FL, Shantel B. Thom (Glenston) of Charlotte, NC and a special niece, C. Nicole R. Davis (Tony) of Winston-Salem, NC.

Levander's memory is cherished by his sister, Annie Mae Dumas of High Point, NC, and three sisters-in-law: Mary C. Hartley of Indian Trail, NC, Barbara T. Gladden of Lilesville, NC, and Lorayne Brewer of Charlotte, NC. His eight grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

And his close friends also knows as “the walking crew” Johnny Ussrey, Cathy McCormick, and Jimmy Jones.

In honoring the life of Mr. Levander Bennett, we celebrate a man whose kindness, leadership, and zest for life touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his legacy continue to inspire and bring solace to those who grieve his loss.

The Homegoing Services will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 11:00am, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be private.


The Bennett Family will greet family and friends on Wednesday from 10:30-11:00am.
