James (Bobo) Henry Manning Jr, 70, unexpectedly transitioned from this life early Saturday morning January 6, 2024 at Hospice of the Piedmont. James as born in Hamer, SC and raised in High Point, NC. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oscar and Lillian Manning; two brothers, Preston Manning and Carl Rogers; three sisters, Joyce Miller, Lillian Manning and Shirley Lavonne Manning; one nephew, Carlos D. Manning; one great-grandson, Jahmiyan Lee Jackson and one son, Damien Sanders.

James attended the High Point Public Schools. He worked in the furniture industry. He also worked in the receiving and shipping department at Columbia Freight Line in High Point.

James played drums in a singing group called Sensational Playboy Band. He would often help people do housework and yard work in their homes to pick up extra funds. James was a loving, funny man who loved telling jokes and cutting up with his family and friends. He loved dancing, James loved all his children very much and talked about them all the time. James was also known for grabbing a pole and being acrobatic. If you ran across Bobo, he would surely leave you with a smile and laugh. There was never a dull moment.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Shirley McFadden and his father, James H. Manning Sr., both of High Point, NC; four daughters, Djuana Jackson, Ulaunda Williams, Tora Ross all of High Point, NC; and Lakesha Brown of Laurinburg, NC; three sons, Nathan Little (LaQuita) and Cedric Greene (Lee) both of High Point, NC; and Joevonnie Sanders (Vanessa) of Rock Hill, SC; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jimmy Manning of Hamer, SC, Lamont Withers (Keisha) and Nathaniel Manning both of High Point, NC; ten sisters, Margaret Bethea of Hamer, SC; Nell Leggett of New York; Alice Manning, Ester Leggett Berry (Bobby C), Iris Gibson (Gerald), Doris Manning, Betty Manning, Tina Brockington (Prentiss), Lisa Manning all of High Point, NC; and Jan Mays of Greensboro, NC. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, great nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
