Obituary For Willard Mallette

Willard Lee Mallette was born on January 13, 1952, to the late Lourenza Mallette, Jr., and Lula Mae Mallette. He departed from this life on January 5, 2024, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Willard graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington, North Carolina, in 1970. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1973. He also obtained an Associate Degree from Cape Community College in Electrical Systems Technology. With this specialized training he was able to obtain employment with reputable companies such as Executone and Muzak. In later years, he worked as a truck driver which afforded him to see much of the United States. He eventually acquired his own business Letโ€™s Do Floors LLC.

Precision was one of his assets, and it showed up when he won the North Carolina State High School Tailoring Contest in 1970. If you saw his closet, everything was hanging orderly; the garments in his dresser drawers were folded neatly. His TV was centered proportionately with his furniture. He made sure his pillows on the couch were placed perfect when he left home for the day. This guy paid his bills on time, and more than half the time, he paid them the next day after receiving them in the mail. On his part-time job, many times on his co-workers birthdays, he would buy a card and place a small gift inside, but he would never tell them when his birthday had come. He was very generous.

Willard served with the ushers at his church and sang on the Gospel choir. Oh how he loved to sing. If you saw him at work, you could hear him singing as you approached his area.

Willard was preceded in death by his sister, Mary.

To cherish his legacy, he leaves behind: six children, Leon, Iesha, Anika (Rodney), Jaboa, Willard Jr. (Kelly), and Montrel (Keyshawna); twelve grandchildren; five siblings, Jerome, (Doris) Susan, James (Dione), Carolyn, and Kenneth; and host of nieces, nephews, family, and church family and friends.

Viewing: 1:00 - 5:00 pm Friday, January 12, 2024 at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.

Visitation: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Deliverance Cathedral of Love in Raleigh, NC.

Funeral will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Deliverance Cathedral of Love, 1705 Curtis Drive in Raleigh, NC 27610.

Burial will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road in Goldsboro, NC 27534.
