Jack was born July 2, 1946, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She graduated at Ponca City High School, married, and had her babies in Ponca City. When she left, she never looked back. She married the love of her life, Danny Smith, in 1981. They worked in the oil and gas industry and lived with their children in Louisiana and New Mexico, and finally settled in Bowie, Texas in 1986. She and Danny continued to have awesome adventures RVing and riding the Jeep trails in Colorado until he met the Lord September 5, 2011. Later, she was blessed to meet her best friend and companion Scott Stubbs to share her life with and who was with her until the very end.
Jack was an active member in her community. She always lent a helping hand, and she was usually in charge when she did. Jack was a hard worker and always had a job. Her customers loved her, because she always had a smile on her face and a hug. She loved Dallas Cowboy football and Willie Nelson. Her later years were spent following her grandsons’, Preston and Lil JD “Poota”, school and sporting events. She loved following her great-niece, Sunny, on the volleyball trail and attended national tournaments in Dallas and Detroit with her. She was so proud of “her kids.”
Jack had a love for the Lord that never stopped. She was always active in her church wherever she lived. She was an active member of the County Line Cowboy Church and it brought her a great deal of joy.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Danny Smith; son JT Smith; sister Jeanne; parents and great-grandparents.
Jack is survived by her son, JD Smith and wife Brandi of Gainsville, Texas; her friend and companion, Scott Stubbs of Bowie; her children Dwayne Spangler and Treena Neff; her grandsons, Preston and Lil JD “Poota” Smith and JT Smith II; her niece, Marcie Batschelett and husband Ken and their three kids, Garrett, Emily, and Sunny of Ponca City, OK; other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to express our sincerest thanks to Jack’s best friend Tracey Gilbow, her friend Dana Hopson, her church family, and Solaris Hospice for their kind assistance.
