MRS. LAURA BELL WILLIAMS MADDUX, daughter of the late John Thomas Williams and Emma Mae Walker Williams was born December 26, 1954 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life December 31, 2023 at VCU- MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA. She was also preceded in death by her siblings- Buddy Lee, William, John Richard, Arthur, and Solomon Williams.
At an early age she was baptized and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church, South Hill, VA.
Laura was a 1975 graduate of the former Park View Senior High School. She later attended Southside Community College where she became certified as a Nurse.
Laura was married to the late Samuel Maddux, Jr. in February of 1982.
Laura was a faithful worker in the church. She was on the Deaconess Board, Usher Board, sang in the Choir and was on the Hospitality Committee.
Laura leaves to mourn her loss her son- James A. Williams (Denise Thomas) of South Hill, VA; 9 grandchildren- Cameron, Jameson, Semaj, and Jazariah Williams, all of South Hill, VA; Chanel Goode of Greensboro, NC; TaKierra Thomas and Ericka Whisonant of South Hill, VA; QuawnDashia Alexander of Danville, VA and A’angel Thomas of Richmond, VA; 5 great-grandchildren- Kai Thomas of South Hill, VA; LaLonnie Alexander of Danville, VA; Kingston and Ky’moni Goode-Middleton and Kenya Goode-Hooper, all of Greensboro, NC; 4 siblings- Milton Williams of Kenbridge, VA; Bernice W. Lambert of South Hill, VA; Daniel Williams (Tracey Smith) of Lawrenceville, VA and Emma D. Williams of Stafford, VA; sister-in-law, Karolyn Beamer of Charlotte, NC; aunt- Rosa Stone of Brodnax, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Laura was so wonderful to our Mother, Mre. Gracie Johnson, and my sister and I felt very close to Laura even after our mama passed. I will always love Laura and she will forever be in my thoughts and heart. Betty Wright
