Willie James Williams was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend of Charlotte North Carolina. Born December 5, 1960. He was the son of Irene Cole and Jessie Williams. Willie grew up in Port Chester, NY where his love for cars and basketball began. In 1978, Willie moved to Illinois with his younger brother Alfred. Willie was an all-star basketball player at Gibson City High School in Illinois. After high school, he earned a degree at Southeastern Illinois College in Automotive Mechanics.
On August 6, 1988, the Mayor of Port Chester, NY married Willie to Tanya Ellis in a small ceremony. Willie and Tanya moved from NY to Connecticut. Then in 1992, they planted roots in Charlotte, NC. He was the sole owner and operator of Citco Auto Services for 18 years where he made amazing friends that became family. Willie was a cherished member of the community, known for his warm smile and kind-hearted nature.
He was recognized as one of the top mechanics in the city. He was also He was also an honored speaker at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Willie was dedicated to his family. He was the epitome of a true family man. As a parent, he was a guiding light, providing love, support, and wisdom to his children. He had an exemplary work ethic and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His loyalty was unmatched. He exuded positivity and brought contagious joy to those around him. Willie peacefully passed away in his sleep on December 25, 2023, at age 63.
Willie James Williams leaves his wife Tanya Williams; his sons Willie Ellis(Allysha Thomas), Jamil Williams (Ambria Jones), and Elisar Williams; his daughters Rochetta Gordon (Louis Gordon Jr.) and Dolores Williams; his goddaughters Shanetta Shipp and Dajah Weddington; his amazing grandchildren; Naima Gordon, Louis Gordon III, Jeremiah Ellis, Zurl Ellis, and Jamil Williams II; his two sisters, Minnie Brunson (Willie Brunson) and Dorothy Scott (George Scott); five brothers, Elza Williams, Martin Williams, Bobby Williams Sr. (Denise Williams), John Williams-deceased-and Alfred Williams-deceased-(Sheila Williams) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services will be on Saturday January 6, 2024 at King's Funeral Home Chapel 4000 Beatties Ford Road Charlotte NC 28216 at 4pm. Final disposition is private at the request of the family.
