Mr. James C. Phillips was born on March 15, 1946, in Russell County, Alabama to the late Cebot Phillips and the late Melonie (Bass) Phillips. He departed this life on December 24, 2023, surrounded by family.
He spent most of his life working and was employed by Johnston Textiles for 40 years and after retiring he transitioned to providing lawn care for those in the community. Some of his happiest times were spent atop his mower massaging lawns. This guilty pleasure is really what kept him balanced in his twilight.
He was a captivating spirit and was affectionally known as βCrowβ, a name he had given himself in his youth. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend to anyone who was blessed to be in his presence. He had a million-watt smile and colorful sense of humor which he used to brighten any room he entered.
James accepted Christ and his teachings and always served as a steward of faith, love, respect, and hard work. Never imposing, but always inviting, he left an imprint on this world that will always be present in the hearts of those who loved and respected him and his manner of being.
He leaves to cherish his memory; a daughter, Pamela Pickard; four sons; Malcolm (Cynthia) Walton, Michael (Pamela) Pickard, Keith (Mia) Philips and Lamar Phillips; two sisters; Daisy Daniels and Barbara Goodwin; devoted companion, Ms. Dolicia Burk and her three children, which he helped raise. He additionally leaves eleven grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren and a slew of devoted friends to include Ms. Cora Pickard.
