Obituary For Mrs. Griselda Y. Collins

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Griselda Y. Collins known to many as “Yvette” will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 2002 North Rome Avenue, Tampa, with Reverend Dr. C.T. Kirkland, Pastor as officiator.

On July 25, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York, God blessed the union of Carlton and Jeanell Gray (both deceased) with a beautiful baby girl they named Griselda Yvette. Yvette spent her young years growing up in New York City with her parents and brother Carlton Don Gray Jr., (deceased). After tragically losing her beloved brother Donnie, the family relocated to Tampa, Florida.

Yvette was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County, graduating from C. Leon King High School in 1984. Yvette attended Concorde Career Institute and successfully graduated with a medical assistant certificate. She served as a Guardian Ad Litem for foster children, providing them with a loving and nurturing home. Yvette was a beloved member of the community and a longstanding member of Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church where she devotedly served with the usher board and adult choir. Yvette worked as a Security Officer for 15 years and was a Public Notary.

Griselda Yvette Collins departed this life on Friday, April 13, 2018 after a lengthy illness.

She leaves her cherished memories to her loving and devoted children: Pria U. Collins, Campion E. Collins, Timothy D. Collins Jr., Shayla Y. Collins. all of Tampa. Loving Grandchildren: Braylon Collins, Daevon Johnson, Jayceon Hargrett, A’shya Collins. Father-in-law: Roland Collins. Beloved sisters: Renee Mitchell, Carletha Gray, Thelma Williams, Rhonda Thomas and Linda Gray. In-laws: Terri Collins and Marcus Mitchell, Sr; Devoted Aunt: Delores Williams; Supportive Uncles: Charles Collins (PearlieMae), Norris Collins (Dr. Carolyn), and Robert Collins. Nieces and Nephews: Symone, Charles, Markisia, Marcus and Michelle. Faithful Cousins: Lonnie Jackson, Norris Collins, Jr. (Eperanza), Dr. Corey Collins (Gwenesia), Cassandra Collins, Adrian Blanchett, Reverend Jay Jackson (Lisa), Rhonda Jackson, Ricky Bell, Nicka Jackson and Antionette “Toni “Bell and a host of close relatives and friends, including Reverend Dr. C.T. Kirkland (Lady Kirkland) and the entire Mt. Pleasant M. B. Church Family with countless others.

A special “Thank You” to the members of the Brown, Collins, Gray, and Jackson Families.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 27, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Services, 3822 E. 7th Avenue, Tampa. Friends are to assemble at the church at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
