Obituary For Kenneth Jerome Fomby

Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Kenneth Fomby will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ragland, AL. Interment will be at Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be from 11:00a.m. until the hour of service at the church.

Kenneth Jerome Fomby was born on July 12, 1946, to Cleve and Ophelia Jones Fomby. He was called to his heavenly home on December 23, 2023. He confessed Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.H. Chambers.

He graduated from St. Clair Training School in Pell City, AL. He joined and served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He attended Jefferson State Community College and Gadsden State Community College.

Kenneth worked several jobs, including Ragland Pipe Shop, U.S. Steel Company in Birmingham, AL. He later went to work at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, form which he retired after 30 years of service.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Bradford Fomby; parents, Cleveland and Ophelia Jones Fomby; six brothers, Roy Leon, Oscar Lee, Bobby Ray, Orbin Fomby, Jimmy and Lonnie Fomby; two sisters, Georgia Wright and Leola Sturkie.

He leaves to cherish his loss; eleven children, Anthony Love, Kenneth Fomby, Jr., Monica Lyle, Seemah Fomby, Kenneth Fomby, Kelvin Fomby, Michael Woods, LeBrandon Woods, Symone Fomby, Symyyah Fomby and Tayshun Fomby; four sisters, Deloise (Sam) Garland, Dollie Ragland, Edith (Lonnie) Hendrix; two brothers, Raymond Fomby and Elder Benjamin Fomby; a special cousin, Joe Nathan Thomas; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
