Mrs. Leatrice Wimberly Utley, 95, transitioned peacefully, Saturday, December 16, 2023, in Augusta, Georgia. She was the seventh child born to Mr. and Mrs. Ned and Eula Wimberly on September 5, 1928, in Waynesboro, GA.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the tender age of ten. She worshipped with gladness and gratefulness at Palmer Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a dedicated member of the Senior Choir and Missionary Ministry.
She was employed as a seamstress for several local factories throughout the Central Savannah River Area.
Leatrice’s legacy will be cherished by her husband of seventy-three years, Deacon George Utley Jr.; a loving daughter, Linda (Gregory D.) Reese; two dedicated sons, Deacon Gregory (Gwen) Utley and Michael (Bernice) Utley; one uncle, Alvin (Willie Mae) Wimberly; six grandchildren, Yvonne Reese, Yvette Reese, Antwann Utley, Shaniquia Utley, Jarret Utley, and Janese Utley; four great-grandchildren, Darius Williams, Kyasia Utley, Walter Ferguson, and Jade Utley; three great-great-grandchildren, Raegyn Williams, Da‘Niyah Williams, and Paisley Utley; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Phillip Grove Baptist Church, 255 Lovers Lane, Waynesboro, GA. Interment will follow in Bottsford Spring Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, December 22, 2023, at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, 3618 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA. (706) 790-8858.
