OPELOUSAS – A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA for Ms. Bernadette Thomas, 68, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Cemetery in Grand Coteau, LA.

Fr. Manie Manuel, S.V.D., will be officiating the funeral mass.

Ms. Thomas’ memories are being cherished by: her son, Wallace James (Laurie) Thomas of Zachary, LA; three daughters, Dionne Marie Thomas of Opelousas, LA, Melinda Antoinette Thomas-Trahan (Fredrick) of D’Iberville, MS and Mary Thomas-Simon (Quinn) of Lafayette, LA; three brothers, Joseph Lloyd (Helen) Robert of Houston, TX, Joseph Anthony (Carolyn) Thomas of Carencro, LA and Mark (Rhonda) Miller of Opelousas, LA; four sisters, Mary Earline Levine of Galveston, TX, Dorothy Landry-Scott and Patsy Thompson, both of Houston, TX and Queen Esther Auzenne (Cleveland) of Leonville, LA; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; two bonus blessings, Dr. Tiffany Renee Johnson (Sean) of Texas and Tyler James Minick of New Orleans, LA; two Godchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, Wallace and Cordelia Hawkins Thomas; one brother, Joseph Wallace Thomas; and one sister, Gloria Payne.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. A rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m.
