Obituary For Mona Rhoades Wells

Mona Rhoades Wells, age 86 of Bowie, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023.


Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.


Funeral Services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16th, at Lighthouse Assembly in Bowie with Pastor Micah Wells and Weldon Wright officiating.


Burial will follow at Salona Cemetery in Bowie.


Mona was born on May 18, 1937 in Henrietta, TX to Charlie and Daisy Rhoades. She was the youngest of seven children, 5 sisters and 1 brother. Mona went to school at Midway where she liked to write songs and poems.


After high school Mona met the love of her life, Curtis "Nubbin" Wells, at Farmer's Cafe in Bowie where she worked. They were married three months after their first date and made their home in Bowie, TX. They had two sons, Cal Lee and Micah Keith and she loved her role being at home with her children and later being able to spend time with her grandchildren.


She accepted the Lord as her savior at age 11, and stated many times that it was the best moment of her life. Mona spent many years serving the Lord as a Sunday school teacher and Missionette teacher.


She is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Wells, her parents, in-laws, her brother, Cleo Rhoades and sisters, Oma Jackson, Velma Strawbridge, Opal Peden and Dorothy Liggett.


Mona is survived by her children, Cal Wells and wife Ruth of Bowie and Micah Wells and wife Karen of Miami, OK; grandchildren, Audra Keaton and husband Chad, Daniel Wells and wife Paige, and Heather Mesker and husband Eric; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Flo Peden of Midland, TX.


Arrangements entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, TX.

Pastor Micah, My sincere condolences in the passing of your precious mother. I can just visualize her now walking the golden streets of Heaven. She hasn't a care with perfect health in her heavenly body! She has moved into her mansion in Glory united with her loved ones already there with perfect peace close to her savior Jesus Christ!
