Mrs. Bobbie Jean Howard was born to Gladys Jennings Vaughn and Robert Tolliver, Sr. in Nashville, Tennessee on March 19, 1938. Bobbie was one of seven children. She was affectionally known as “Nanny”.

She was educated through Metro Nashville Public Schools where she graduated from Pearl High School. She attended classes at Tennessee State University.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Garnell Adolphus Howard on June 16, 1962, in Nashville, TN.

She leaves to cherish her memories children, Constance D. Shelton, Bobby W. Shelton, Sheryl Sykes-Shelton, Deborah Howard Mance (Gary) of Richmond, VA, Zina Howard of Columbia, MD, and Carolyn Jackson Gardner; six grandchildren, Kevin Sykes, Jr., Patrick Shelton, Kenneth Sykes, Ashely Mitchell, Sydney Mance (Brooklyn, NY) and Tolliver Mance (Washington, DC),: two great granddaughters, Zion Sykes and Karsten Sykes; sisters Linda Jennings and Barbara Ann Harrison; three brothers Ewell Jennings, Minister Tony Jennings, and Charles Tolliver as well as numerous devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

Services: Visitation Friday, December 8, 2023, 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Smith Funeral Directors 706 Monroe Street Nashville, TN 37208. Funeral services Saturday December 9, 2023, Viewing 11:00 am to 12:00 noon Service to follow at Greater First Street Missionary Baptist Church 3203 Brick Church Pike Nashville, TN. 37207. Internment Tuesday December 12, 2023, 10:00am Nashville Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery Pegram, Tennessee
