Reverend Dr. Charles Renard Ingram

The Reverend Dr. Charles Renard Ingram was born on November 9, 1947. He departed this life on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church,
631 E. Florida Street, Greensboro, NC 27406. Burial will follow on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 12 Noon in Lakeview Memorial Park.

Dr. Ingram, the son of the late Charlie and Annie Ruth Ingram, was born and raised in Greensboro, NC and was educated in the public schools. He became a member of Mt. Olivet A.M.E. Zion Church and
Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church, respectively. Dr. Ingram met and married his high school sweetheart, Nina Ross. They were blessed with 3 children. Dr. Ingram obtained three higher education degrees as a result
of his matriculation at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCATSU), High Point University, and Hood Theological Seminary where he was awarded The Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree. His professional passion was pastoral care and counseling. Dr. Ingram loved and cared dearly for all humankind.

Dr. Ingram’s life remained full, meaningful and beautiful. His career spanned several wonderful
professional opportunities including Dean of Men (Housing) at NCATSU; Facilities Management (Housing) (NCATSU); Director of Housing (Livingstone College); and Pastor of Bellview A.M.E. Zion Church, Robbins, NC; Hood Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Biscoe, NC; St. Mary's A.M.E. Zion Church, Laurel Hill, NC; Swift Street A.M.E. Zion Church, Greensboro, NC; Roper Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, Mt. Gilead, NC; and Wadeville A.M.E. Zion Church, Mt. Gilead, NC. Dr. Ingram's roles within the A.M.E. Zion Church were most significant to him. He expressed appreciation as he also served the Piedmont Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Zion Church as Dean of Studies for the Greensboro District of the West Central North Carolina Conference; Director of Evangelism and a member of the Budget Committee. He also served on the Admissions Committee and as a member of the Budget Committee of the Piedmont Episcopal District West Central North Carolina Conference of the A.M.E. Zion Church. Dr. Ingram loved the A.M.E. Zion Church and was quite actively engaged in Church administration.

Family was very important to Dr. Ingram. Dinner gatherings and celebrations will always be
remembered and cherished. Dr. Ingram leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 53 years-Nina Ross Ingram; 3 children, Lori Jackson of Greensboro, NC; Charles ‘Chuck’ Renard Ingram, Jr. (Winnie) of Greensboro, NC; Ashley May (Jameel) of Greensboro, NC; 10 grandchildren-Kellie Nelson (Antonio), Charles Jackson, Jr., Essence Ingram-May, Lena May, Juliana May, Christian May, Saquon Henryhand and Debro E. Henryhand, Jr., of Greensboro, NC; 7 great grandchildren-Jordyn, Kamdyn, Layla, Aubrey, Amris, Zamari Simms, and Aaliyah Henryhand; one sister, Janice Holt of Greensboro, NC; two brothers-in-law, Henry Ross (Ernestine) of Gibsonville, NC; Charles McKinnon, Greensboro, NC; and two sisters-in-law, Sarah Ross of Brooklyn, New York, and Martha McNeill of Greensboro, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in addition to his beloved Godmother, Mrs. Willie Williams of Greensboro, NC.
