Bartow, Georgia, gained more excitement than it bargained for on October 19, 1933, when Alice and Anthony Hall, Sr., welcomed a bouncing baby girl into their family, named Maggie. Even then, she had charisma. She grew up and lived in Bartow, Georgia, for 22 years where she enjoyed her nine siblings: Hattie, Harvey, Claudia, Vilean, Homer, Archie, Elizabeth, Mary, and Anthony, Jr.; Maggie was the “Baby.” They all preceded her in death. She graduated from Jefferson County High School on June 1, 1954.
Maggie rerouted her roots around 1955, when she relocated to Hollywood, Florida, enjoying life in its fullest until Mr. Gladestone Knowles came along, and apparently the only thing left to do was the “I do’s,” ; she then became a January bride as they joined together as man and wife in 1957. Gladestone took Maggie on special trips and travels to show her his beautiful home, the Islands of the Bahamas and show his family the love of his life. She fell in love with the Carribean cuisine and tropical culture. In 1995 Gladestone preceded her in death, and Maggie continued her journey alone.
Ms. Maggie was a home body for the most part, but she came to like visiting the Senior Center and on occasion dashing into the Malls and shopping centers laced with a little shopping from time to time.
If you have walked or driven down Raleigh Street in Hollywood, Florida ,you had to see Ms. Maggie in her favorite chair on the porch, waving to just about anybody that passed her way in car or on foot. Nothing would make Maggie happier than a verbal conversation visitation that started with a simple wave of a hand saying hello. Ms. Maggie, known as Aunt Maggie, Aunt Sister, Mag, and “The little Old Lady that Sat on the Porch” gave up her special chair on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved giver of care and Grandnephew; Jeffery Hall, Sr. (Ellamae), Niece; Ruby Dukes, Nephew; Mack Andrews, Jr. (Gwendolyn); Grandniece; Tracy Hall and Nephew; Jesse Hall (Sharon); a total of 18 Nieces and nephews, a host of Grandnieces, Grandnephews, Godchildren, family, and friends. Also are special friends, next door neighbor Laila Kitchen and family, Grace Stewart, Tom Nelson, Arizona Warner, and Lenny Berry. She will be missed but never forgotten.
