Loretta Johnson Jones, 82, of 97 Water Lane, Mesic passed Thursday, November 23, 2023.

Her service is 12:00 PM, Friday, December 1, 2023 at New Bern Eastern Missionary Baptist Headquarters. Burial will follow at Mesic Memorial Cemetery.

Viewing hours are 12:00 PM - 5:30 PM, Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Oscar's Mortuary.

She is survived by her husband, Booker T. Jones, Sr., Mesic; son, Booker T. Jones Jr., Clayton, NC; daughters, Marietta Jones, Greensboro, Coretta Fisher, Wake Forest and Hilda Davis, Grantsboro, eight grandchildren; sisters, Inez Latham, Grantsboro and Diane Hodges, New York; brothers, Reverend Douglas Pearsall, Bayboro and Reverend Cletis Sawyer, New Bern.

As my mind went to the fond memories I have of Loretta, it was not those beautiful hats she wore or the fancy dresses, it was that beautiful smile and the way she would say "Booker". Her way of showing love and appreciation to her husband and them walking together holding hands. But especially the love she showed me through the years. I was watching and learning.
