Obituary For Charlie Lewis Preston

Funeral service for Charlie Preston, 82, of Columbus, GA, will be at 11:00 a.m. (CST), Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2000 South Uniroyal Road, Opelika, AL 36801 with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend George C. McCulloh will officiate.

Mr. Preston, who passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Piedmont Healthcare in Columbus, GA, was born March 15, 1941, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Monday, November 20, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Preston will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Alice Preston of Columbus, GA; a son, Brandon (Janice) Preston of Bonaire, GA; two grandchildren, Asia Preston of Marietta, GA and Braedon Ari James Preston of Bonaire, GA; four sisters, Martha Preston, Dorothy Gibson, Bessie Mae Preston all of Opelika, AL and Mildred Wright of Boston, MA; two brothers, Lorenzo (Linda) Preston of Lithonia, GA and Jimmy (Aretha) Preston of Montgomery, AL; extended brother, Bobby (Sandra) Williams of Pflugerville, TX; a devoted friend, Clarence Dates of Columbus, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
