Obituary For Deacon Abraham Pinckney, Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of Deacon Abraham Pinckney, Jr., the widow of Missionary Mary Pinckney. He was called from labor to reward on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, SC. Deacon Pinckney was the son of the late Reverend Abraham Pinckney, Sr. and Lucille Maloney Pinckney. He was a man who believed in a strong work ethic. Deacon Pinckney was a brick mason, bridge builder, tied-steel, and retired from the International Longshoreman Local #1414.

Deacon Pinckney was a faithful member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of the Pocotaligo community of Yemassee, SC. He served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for more than 30 years.

He was well known throughout the Lowcountry. His portrait of life is filled with memories of a loving father, grandfather, brother, loved one and friend. We shall miss him but hope to greet him in heaven where no farewell tears are shed.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 12th 200 pm in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Center. 3763 Bees Creek Road, Ridgeland, SC. Burial will be in the Princeton Cemetery, Round O, SC.

Your prayers, kindness, and expressions of condolence are appreciated.

Guest Book

Warm, kind-natured, light-hearted Deacon Abraham Pinckney was a fixture in the Lowcountry, the Coastal Empire, and the Central Savannah River Area. I don't know if anyone could love the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church family and community as much as he did. Deacon Pinckney exemplified a "can-do," "will try" faith and spirit in everything he said and did on behalf of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and toward Kingdom Building on behalf of the Lord, his God. He spoke at my late father, Merritt Hamilton's funeral when Dad was gathered unto our ancestors. Decades later, if my family called on him for any reason, he'd be there at our side. Deacon Pinckney loved his family fiercely, and was extremely proud of them. He will be missed. Deepest condolences and Blessed Assurance. Vasilisa C. Hamilton and Family
