Auntie Hattie Doot you slipped away from me. I'm glad we had our thing. You would call me and tell me what kind of fish you wanted (because Martinsville didn't have the "good" fish markets like Richmond). You introduced me to Black Bass. I would get the fish and throw the deep fryer in the car and head your way. We set up on the back patio because you didn't like fish smell in the house. You would bake redskin potatoes and make Cole slaw while I fried the fish. Then we would eat and talk and laugh. That was our special thing and I love you for initiating it. I will miss you so much. Enjoy your sisters and brothers. Fly high my beautiful angel.

Doot helped me when I was a young mom and had an issue with my kids. Solution: Prune Cake that tastes like Gingerbread. Nailed it! No more problems. Lol.I still have the recipe. She taught me so much. She and her kids were wonderful neighbors and are beautiful people. My heart is heavy; however, God makes no mistakes. Gaye, Nae-Nae, Connell, you are in my thoughts and prayers always. Love ❤️ you the most. Rev. Carla Walton and family
