Gertrude St. George Battle

Gertrude St. George was born on February 12, 1940 in Lee County, Alabama to Joe St. George and Odessa Rawls St. George.

She was raised in a loving Christian home and was educated in the rural schools of Lee County (Opelika), AL. Gertrude was baptized on April 5, 1968 as a Jehovah Witness and served faithfully for 54 years until her passing. Sher worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Gertrude departed this life on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Southeast Health Medical Center, Dothan, AL. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe St. George and Odessa Rawls St. George; sisters, Emma Jean Williams, Hattie M. Cooper, Ethel and Sattie White; brothers, James, Eddie, Alvin, Joe, Henry St. George.

She leaves to cherish her memories: sister, Mattie James; niece, Vanessa (Bobby) Buckles; nephew, Rufus (Lisa) Cawthon and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Ceremony to honor Gertrude Battle was held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. on Zoom. Interment was by cremation.
