Jennie Marie Melton

Jennie Marie Caine was born on April 2, 1953 to Willie Floyd Caine and Mary Lee Saffold in Seminole County, Georgia.

She lived in Miami, FL before settling in Gordon, AL. Jennie married Dr. Rev. Elbert Melton on July 6, 1982 in Seminole County. They were married for 39 blissful years. She worked at Wex Tex as a dedicated employee until retirement.

Jennie departed this life on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, AL. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Floyd Caine and Mary Lee Saffold.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Dr. Rev. Elbert Melton; her children, Roy (Dee Dee) Caine, Cortina (Bobby) Caine. Natalyn (Robert) Hamilton, Clennon (Gabrielle) Melton, Kinnyatar Melton, Yoshica (Andrew) McCullough, Elbert (Lakisha) Melton, Jr., Maurice (Alicia) Melton, and Marquita (Ernest) Williams. Also brothers, Willie (Sharon), William (Priscilla) Charles (Felicia), Odell (Brenda), Marvin (Tina); sisters Corene (Joe), Lorene (Jerry) and Irene (Willie). She also leaves to cherish her memories, 25 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a special Aunt Rena Mae Wade and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, 24 Philadelphia Road in Gordon, AL.

Per CDC regulations, face masks were worn and social distancing (maintaining 6 feet apart from one another) was practiced.
