Mrs. Bertha Foster Brown, 84, of Phenix City, AL passed Friday, November 3, 2023 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. EST, (10:00 a.m. CST) Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL Pastor Noble D. Williams, pastor and Pastor James Pirtle, eulogist. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Phenix City, AL. Visitation is Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 12-5 p.m. EST.
Bertha Brown was born to the late Houston Foster and Rose Bell Hudson on December 12, 1938, in Russell County, AL, the oldest of four children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Brown; son, Vincent Dozier; sisters, Willie Mae Hodge and Betty Jean Hudson and brother, Robert Foster.
Bertha was an active member of Alcoholic Anonymous’ Serenity Group in Phenix City, AL, and on November 1, 2023, she received her chip celebrating 44 years of sobriety.
She accepted Christ at an early age, and she was a member of First Tabernacle Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL where she was the mother of the Church and also a member of the General Mission, Pastor Aide and Deaconess.
Bertha leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Sanzy Foster, Sandra (Jeff) Williams, Wanda Hill, and Dessie Hill, all of Columbus, GA; two sons, Don (Debra) Hill, Valley, AL and Antron (Angela) Grier of Phenix City, AL; niece, Yolanda (Jeffery) Williams of Seale, AL; nephew, Kirk Hodge of Auburn, AL; sister-in-law, Keelee (Paul) Outlaw, Surprise, AZ; 17 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
