Nellie Jean (Slack) Collier 88 of Tallahassee Florida, gained her wings on October 26, 2023.
Nellie was born on October 21, 1935 to Mitchell and Mary (Smith) Slack in Oxford Mississippi. The Slack family moved to Alton Illinois in 1943. Nellie attended Alton Senior High School and graduated in 1953. She also attended Southern Illinois University.
In 1954, Nellie married Charles Joseph Collier. Nellie and Charles went on to have six children, Patricia, Charles (Carlynn), Mitchell (Iris), Donna, Terrace (Denese), Thomas (Marissa).
In 1996, Nellie retired from the Florida Joint Legislative Management Committee as an accountant. Once retired, she enjoyed spending her time baking, gardening, taking care of her family and watching sports and westerns.
Nellie was predeceased by Mitchell (father), Mary (Mother), Mitchell (brother), Charles (brother), George (brother), Donald (brother), Mitchell (son). She is survived by Charles (husband), their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
Services will be held at 11am (est) Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Greater Fountain Chapel A.M.E. Church, 821 Eugenia Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32310. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Big Bend Hospice, an organization the family appreciated during this time of transition.
