Charles G. “Chuck” Richards, 74, of Truth or Consequences, NM passed away peacefully at his residence on October 20, 2023.
Chuck was born on September 17, 1949 in Kalamazoo, MI to George E. Richards and Ruth Renwick. He attended Michigan Christian College and went to work as a clinical child care worker, running group homes in Brooklyn, NY, Rio Rancho, Tome, and Cedar Crest, NM and the Yukon Territory. Chuck was a firefighter in McIntosh, NM and a sergeant in the CCA prison in Estancia, NM. He came to T. or C. to work with veterans and the homeless. God spoke and he listened, God sent and he went. Chuck had a real heart for people and a true love for mankind. When he wasn’t working, Chuck enjoyed fishing, motorcycles and leading bible studies. He also wrote short stories. He was an avid tobacconist, and would refurbish and sell pipes. He was also a member of the Albuquerque Pipe Club.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Linda Joy-Richards; children- John, Andrew, Raina, Madelaine, Raymond and Tina; Grandchildren: Alyssa Arce, Christina and Mason Steffensen, Abigail Arce, Laila Mustafin, Aiden Mustafin, Sarah Auge, Savanah Bingham, Rowan Bingham, Damien and Courtney Richards, Ayleen Richards, Conrad Schneider, Phillip Schneider, Crystal Campo and Billy Francis; siblings: Cora Lee (Holadia), Paul, Brue, Scott and Candace Richards; as well as 2 great grandchildren, Oaklyn and Penny Steffensen.
A Celebration of Chuck’s life will be announced at a later date.
Linda I am so very sorry for you loss. He was an awesome man. I remember him telling us to not get into to much trouble when we went to Calif each time. I love you and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
