Obituary For Samuel Elias

Mr. Samuel Elias, 63, of Ft. Mitchell, AL passed Sunday, October 22, 2023 in Ft. Mitchell, AL.

Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. EST, Friday, November 3, 2023 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Antonio James, officiating. Burial to follow in the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, AL. Visitation will be held Thursday November 2, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.

The journey of life for Brother Samuel Lee Elias affectionately known as "Sambo" began on July 23, 1960. He was the son of the late Homer and Jessie Mae James Elias.


Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Homer Elias, Jr; sister, Renee Elias; son, David Garry and several aunts and uncles.

He is a 1978 graduate of Mount Olive High School, where he was known for his sportsmanship and heroics on the basketball court.

He was a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He served 23 years and retired in 2005. Upon retirement he enjoyed taking various trips, traveling and seeing the world.

The journey of life on this side ended for Brother Samuel Lee Elias on October 22, 2023 at his residence.

He leaves to cherish in memories a devoted significant other, Charlene Holloway of Fort Mitchell, Alabama; one biological daughter, Jessica (Brandon) McGowen of Little Elm, Texas; two daughters, Sheena (Gregory) Tolbert of Hurtsboro, Alabama and Angela Williams of Jacksonville, Arkansas; one son, Koji (Michelle) Holloway of Cordova, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; one cousin who was raised as a brother, Kent James of Las Vegas, Nevada; five aunts, Annie P. James (James) Miles of Indianapolis, Indiana; Elizabeth James of Columbus Georgia, Fannie James of Phenix City, Alabama, Mary Ann James of Fort Mitchell Alabama and Dorothy James of Warner Robins, Georgia, one nephew and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
