Obituary For Mrs. Mary B. Amaker

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary B. Amaker, 84, of 1744 Old Riley Street, Orangeburg, will be held 11:00am, Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, 2868 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, with interment to follow in Heavenly Rest Memorial Park.

Mary B. Amaker, daughter of the late Annie Mae and Leroy Lebby, was born February 16, 1939 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She passed away October 3, 2023, at The Oaks of Orangeburg.

Mary was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County and was a graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Mary was employed by the Regional Medical Center, Weather’s Cleaners and L & S Cleaners during her many years in the workforce.

Mary loved to play bingo and watch western movies and shows.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Amaker Sr.; son, Marshall Amaker Jr.; son-in-law, Mark Johnson; seven sisters; and three brothers.

Mary leaves to cherish fond memories: her loving daughter, Marlene Johnson of the home; three grandsons: Brandon Benjamin, Jay’lin Johnson both of Orangeburg, SC and Devonte Gladden of Korea; four granddaughters: Octavia (Gregory) Mack Benjamin, Jasmine Johnson both of Orangeburg; Cheyanne Byrd of Prattville, AL and Ethel Hillman of Fort Valley, GA; one great-granddaughter, Ava Benjamin of Fort Valley, GA; two great-grandsons: Cairo and Khalid Gladden of Orangeburg; three sisters: Louise Jennings of Cordova, SC, Shirley Stevenson of Orangeburg and Laura Lebby of Florence, SC; two brothers: Alrick “Pee Wee” ones and Stanford Lebby both of New Britain, CT; Eddie Rose of New Britain, CT; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 13, 2023, from 1:00pm - 6:00pm.
