Obituary For Carrie Lee Ivey

Mrs. Carrie Lee Ivey, 79, of Phenix City, AL passed Saturday, October 7, 2023 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, October 14, 2023 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor James P. Daniels, officiating. Burial to follow in Sunset Cemetery, Phenix City, AL. Visitation is Friday, October 13, 2023 from 1-5 p.m. EST.

Sister Carrie Lee Hicks Ivey was born on September 15, 1944 in Russell County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Marvin and Lillie Mae Hicks. She was one of nine children. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Ivey, Jr. and four siblings, James C. Hicks, Bernice Bunkley, Willie B. Clowney and Pauline Brown.

Sister Ivey confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Villula, Alabama. She served as the Church Clerk, Deaconess, President of the Senior Choir and on the Program Committee. She also served as President of the Deacon Wives and Deaconess Ministry and as a Fieldworker for the Macedonia District Missionary Baptist Association, Secretary for the Joint Get-Together Mission Circle for Cool Spring, Friendship, Mt. Hebron and 1st Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Churches and President of the U.B.B. & S. Society.

She was a 1962 graduate of Oliver High School in Seale, Alabama and employed by Fieldcrest Cannon for over 32 years. She also worked for the Alexander Family (Alexander Construction Company Inc.) of Columbus, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Carolyn Robinson of Phenix City, Alabama; son Timothy (Elodie) Hicks of Kathleen, Georgia; bonus son, Andrew (Pamela) Tarver of Montverde, Florida; four sisters, Emma Terry and Irene Dixon both of Phenix City, Alabama, Corrie (James) Upshaw of Buffalo, New York and Etha (John) Westbrook of Long Branch, New Jersey; three sisters-in-law, Bertha Hicks of Phenix City, Alabama, Bertha Douglass and Tempie Ivey both of Columbus, Georgia; two grandchildren, Timothy J. Hicks and Destinee Hicks; two bonus grandchildren, William and Langston Tarver; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

It is with great sadness that I type this. Aunt Carrie treated all of her Ivey neices and nephews with LOVE and made all of us feel like her own kids. I will always be grateful for her influence on my life, and the many meals I had in her, and my uncle, home.

We was very sadness to hear about the pasting of Sis. Carrie Ivey she was a very nice person that loved the Lord and His people. Where ever she went she would let her light shine for the Lord. She loved fellowship at different church in the community. She was our Prayer Breakfast speaker a few years ago at Bethlehem Crossroad Baptist Church, she bless our heart ❤️ that morning.
