On September 17, 2023, God called his angel home, Mr. Roger Newsome of Valdosta, Georgia. Roger was born on December 10, 1975, to Deacon Wesley Newsome, Sr., and Pastor Mary Lee Newsome of Valdosta, Georgia.

He was married to Crystal Latrice Newsome. He departed this life at his home in Valdosta.

Roger leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, Deacon Wesley Newsome, Sr., and Pastor Mary Lee Newsome; eighteen siblings, Pastor Shirley Spencer (Deacon Erwin Spencer), Kenneth Williams, Sr. (Sheila), Shelly Williams (Curtis), Robert Bowen, Charles Bowen, Betty Bowen Carter (Adrion), Wesley Newsome, Jr., Bridgett Newsome Mitchell (Darrick), Jerry Newsome, Critia McNeir, Carolina Johnson (the late Kevin Johnson), Kejanna Hughley (Allen), Markcus Newsome, Rafeal Newsome, Mildred Hogan (Elar), Tammy Gainer (Juan Sr.), Bridget Holmes (Ernest), and Greg Ford (Betty); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends, including special friends, Kenneth Williams, Jr., and Sequoia Brown.

Home going services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11AM at Salem M.B. Church. Burial will follow in the Salem Church Cemetery.
