Ruth Branch Fleming, 80, of Mooresville, North Carolina, previously of Richmond, Virginia; was received into heaven by the LORD on September 28, 2023. Ruth was born the seventh of eight children to the late Henry and Corine Branch in Severn, NC on January 11, 1943.
She was raised in a Christ following home and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age joining First Baptist Church in Severn, North Carolina, where her parents worshipped throughout their lives.
After graduating from W. S. Creecy High School in 1960, Ruth followed her sister Mollie to Richmond, Virginia where she met her husband William (Sonny) Fleming and they married on November 10, 1967. Ruth spent over 40 years working for four organizations in Richmond until she retired in 2005.
Ruth joined Trinity Baptist Church shortly after moving to Richmond and was a loyal member for over 35 years. During her membership, she was both a part of, and led two ministries: Missionary Group and Church Interest Group. Ruth was gifted at building effective relationships and skilled at gaining the confidence of others which ultimately led her to be chosen to lead the two service organizations at Trinity Baptist Church. Ruth highly valued her gifts from the Lord and was diligent in her service until her health issues made it difficult to continue in a leadership role.
Surviving are her loving husband, William; sons, Michael and Jerome; daughter, Tonya; five grandchildren, Christopher, Lauren, Gabrielle, Maya, and Marcus; stepchildren in love, William III, Carla, Robin, Robinette, Angelique and Leon; brother, Calvin Branch; two sons-in-law, David Whitfield and Jospeh Grimes; sister-in-law, Vernal Branch; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
