Bessie L. Neal, 73 of Madison, NC passed Wednesday, September 27, 2023. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2023, at New Light Refuge Temple, 2441 Bethany Road, Madison, NC. with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Hairston’s Cemetery, Eden, NC.
Bessie Lowe Neal transitioned to eternity peacefully at her home in the early hours of September 27, 2023. She was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina on August 8, 1950. She was the youngest of 11 children born to the late Clarence Percy Lowe and Verlie Simmons Lowe.
Bessie was educated in the Rockingham County School System and was a graduate of Madison Mayodan Class of 1969. She was a faithful member of New Light Refuge Temple, Way of the Cross Church all of her life. Bessie loved her church and was a very active Missionary. She served anywhere that there was a need both officially and unofficially. She was very creative in her ideas and was known for her amazing decorating and crafting skills. Even though there were times when her health challenged her, Bessie continued to press her way.
Bessie was married to Clifton Frank Neal, Sr. for 50 years. To this union, five children were born; Mela, Melody, Little Frank, Kevin and Jeffery.
Bessie was also preceded in death by her brothers; Herman Lowe, Sr., Wilbert Lowe, Cleo Lowe, Carl Lowe, Sr. and sisters; Doris Washburn and Margaret Wall.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Frank Neal Sr.; daughters, Mela Shelton (Bobby), Melody Adams (Tracy); sons, Clifton Frank Neal, Jr., Kevin Neal and Jeffery Neal (Jade); thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a sister; Lois Glenn of Browns Summit, N.C., and a brother Sam Lowe (Hester) of Madison, N.C.; a special friend, Sandra Neal (William) of Madison, N.C. and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
