Obituary For James B. Williams

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, James B. Williams 76, of Garrison Dr., Mechanicsville, VA transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life. He was born in Martinsville, VA on May 17, 1947, the son of Collas E. Williams, and the late James Lawson Flood. In addition to his father, James was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn Deshazo, his grandmothers, Dora Williams and Clara Williams, and his grandfather, J.C. Williams.

At an early age, James became a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Martinsville, VA. After graduating from Albert Harris High School in 1965, he enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Vietnam era. He later enrolled at J. Sergeant Reynolds college where he obtained his associate degree. James retired from Winn Dixie after many years of service.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Elizabeth G. Williams of the home, his mother, Collas E. Williams of Martinsville, VA; one brother, William Tatum of Winston Salem, NC; and a host of other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. The burial will be private. A public viewing will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The family ask that you would observe all COVID 19 guidelines.
