Eugene was not just a neighbor but a loving and devoted friend that will be greatly missed. He was always smiling and telling jokes that brought us laughter and joy no matter his circumstance. Him and Lou's love showed us how God's unconditional love should be. He truly loved and cherished Lou and their marriage and relationship should be an example for us all. Gene was such a sweet person and never had a bad thing to say about anything or anyone. He left a legacy for his service to our country and family as a devoted husband and father and his memory will live on in our hearts. God rest your soul. He's telling jokes in heaven now! Love π Calvin & Pat Boston

When we moved across the street in Columbia from you and Gene in 1991, we had no idea how blessed we would be to have you both in our lives. The many trips we took, events we attended, the fun we had. Getting to know you and Gene was definitely God ordained. Gene was a dedicated husband to you, Louise, and you were just as dedicated to him. Gene didn't always have a lot to say, but when he spoke, he was like EF Hutton- we all stopped to listen to what he had to say. They say it takes a village to raise children. You guys did that for us. Louise, your eagle eye never missed anything. πFor that, we are grateful. We remember the day with fondness when Gene, after an illness, held a cookout and he invited so many of his friends. He spoke so eloquently about his friends, his appreciation for their prayers for him. Things haven't been the same since you moved from the neighborhood. However, we are grateful the relationship remained. Thank God we continued our friendship and that we were able to spend a few days together with you and Gene in Hilton Head a few weeks ago. Tommy was deeply affected by the time he and Gene spent together. Our lives are better because you and Gene were our dear, dear friends. We don't take it lightly. We will miss Gene, his gentle kind spirit and he will always be remembered in our hearts. We are always here for you, Louise. Tommy and Hilda
