Ron was such a joy to be around. I would go out to his farm with my 3 sons, and they enjoyed just running around, feeding the animals, fishing and collecting the eggs. Ron and I bonded over our love of music. He would always tell me that I was too young to know about a lot of the songs we would listen to. He will truly be missed. I will see you in paradise one day my friend. Prayers to the family

I worked with Ron at Brooks Co. High when he was the construction teacher. He and I were the advisors for the Skills USA VICA club. We took many students to both regional and state competitions. He is the reason a lot of his students were able to go to competition. He gave them money for meals and even bought clothes for some. A lot of his students would hang out at his house on the weekends. He would make them work but they loved it. They didn't leave without having a home cooked meal. He was much more than a teacher. He was a mentor to so many as well as a father figure. He took in some who had no where else to go. He has left a void in many lives. Praying for peace and comfort for his family, friends, and former students. Sandra McDonald

I believe that Mr. Smith and I were hired and retired at the same time in the Brooks County System. I enjoyed working with him at QES. He loved the children and they loved him. He always took time to listen and comfort them. He is truly missed p.s. I never got my eggs.

Smith was a great teacher. He was fun but was strict. He was very blunt and did not speak to you like you were a child. I did not really see him much after graduating but when I did it was always a wonderful conversation. There is now an empty hole in the hearts of all the students who entered his shop. He will be missed. ~ Eric Hiers
