Mary Lou Emmons Price was born on August 9, 1934, to Mr. Isaiah and Mrs. Lena Mae Emmons in Lincoln County Tennessee. She received her formal education in Nashville, TN where she attended Pearl High School.
Upon moving to Nashville, she joined the Fourteenth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late Rev. Felton Price, where she was a faithful and devoted servant for over seventy years. Mary Lou served as the musician for the Angelic and Inspiration Choirs. She was the musician and director of the Male chorus for over 30 years, as well as President of the Pastor’s Guild for over forty years.
Mary Lou was a hardworking and loving daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. She was employed with the Metro Nashville Sheriff’s Office in 1969 in the warrants division before moving to management. Mary Lou ran the women’s jail programs in the 1980s and spent the last 25 plus years running the volunteer/church programs.
Mary Lou was full of love, compassion and selflessness. She emptied her life making countless deposits among all she encountered. We will forever reap the benefits of the deposits she made in all of our lives. Let us also live with a purpose-given life, die empty, and live out the legacy of Mary Lou.
Her greatest joys were with family, co-workers and her church family. She loved good food, shopping and was the embodiment of what is good, humble and admirable. Mary Lou always found time to give and serve others, while shouldering countless burdens with unfailing grace and faithfulness. She loved sharing her knowledge and wisdom and was a giver in every aspect of her life. Her love for God and her church was always unwavering and evident in the way she cared for and offered help to others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Isaiah

I've had the privilege to have known Sister Price for a lot of years. She's known my family since we were all children, and I was fortunate to be one to have gotten guidance from her as part of the Inspirational choir and the Male Chorus and as a mother figure and friend, I always got nothing but encouragement from her and that is something that will be with be the rest of my life. My prayers are with her family in their time of bereavement, and may God give them the strength they need to grieve and celebrate the woman she was to many people. JEROME WRIGHT
