Patrica Ann Ivey Battle, a native of Phenix City, Alabama was born on March 26, 1944. Her parents were Jimmie Lee and Maggie Ivey. She departed this life to her eternal home on Sunday September 10, 2023. Patricia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rufus L. Battle.
Patricia attended Mother Mary Mission School and graduated Salutatorian of her class. She became a nurse whose career lasted nearly 50 years. By her own admission, Patricia became a believer in Christ late in life. She was a member of Nichols Chapel A.M.E. Church in Phenix City, Alabama where she served faithfully for many years.
Patricia was a member of various ministries of the church including, Bible Study, Prayer Service, Golden Years, Church School, and the Fine Arts Ministry. She founded the praise dance ministry at Nichols Chapel. Also, Patricia served on a host of boards and committees with the church including Finance, Steward, and Auxiliary Board. She was member of the Women’s Missionary Society.
Patricia’s passion and love were services to others. The poor, the deprived, the less fortunate, and the down-and-out; she loved them all. One would find her performing some of the most thankless of jobs and she would do so often free of complaints, with a smile on her face all for Christ
Patricia’s loving memories will be cherished in the hearts of her son, Yusef Battle; daughters, Marissa Morgan, Kita Bryant and Kernice Jones; aunt, Annie Rose Mercer; caretakers, Kenyatta and Johnny Garrett and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and devoted friends.

Her strong riches and wisdom aided you, Yusef, into the person you are today. She exhibited and embraced others for who they are, without judging them. We worked in the missionary ministry at Nichols Chapel together for many years. May God continue to bless and keep you; I pray. Every day and every breath you take is a tribute to you for having a wonderful mother.
